Immersive websites: sites you watch like a film.

An immersive website is not a prettier business card. It is a designed experience: scrolling moves the viewer through the story like film editing, the picture reacts to movement, and the brand stays in mind after three seconds. Below: what that means in practice, when it makes sense, and working examples you can click.

What an immersive website is

It is a website built like a film or a game, not like a document. Instead of blocks of text you get a narrative: scroll-video (a film that plays as you scroll), scrollytelling (content that arrives in the rhythm of scrolling), real-time 3D graphics (WebGL/WebGPU), kinetic typography, sound synchronised with the picture and micro-interactions that respond to the cursor.

The purpose is commercial, not artistic: the visitor should feel the level of the brand before reading the first sentence. That is why premium brands use it - developers, hotels and restaurants, clinics, automotive - anywhere the decision is made emotionally.

Working examples

Not mock-ups - sites you can open and scroll:

  • VELOCE - premium car rental: a 3D carousel of real car models (GLB) and a 3D racing game with a discount code, right in the browser.
  • AURUM Residence - a developer microsite: an interactive 3D tower (WebGPU), clicking a floor shows the available units, a slider changes the time of day; plus a drone-flight game.
  • Hair Solution Clinic - a deployed site for a premium salon with a scroll-video hero (a real client in Wrocław, Poland).
  • RÓWNIK, BRYŁA, KUŹNIA and others - industry concepts (coffee, architecture, fitness, law firm, clinic; all in Polish) showing what immersion looks like in different industries.

3D and WebGL/WebGPU

3D in the browser is no longer a gimmick. It is a sales tool: a product you can rotate, a building where you pick the floor, a colour configurator, a game with a discount as the reward. I build it in Three.js/WebGL and, where it makes sense, in the newer WebGPU.

  • Product models - real 3D objects (GLB) instead of photos: a car, a building, a package.
  • Interaction - rotate, click, parallax towards the cursor, gyroscope on the phone.
  • Performance under control - self-hosted libraries, compressed models, a static fallback for weaker devices and for reduced-motion mode.

Speed and accessibility

The biggest myth: "immersive means heavy and slow". Well-built immersion passes the same audits as an ordinary website:

  • Lighthouse 90+ - a weight budget, lazy-loaded media, video re-encoded for streaming.
  • prefers-reduced-motion - people who are sensitive to motion get a calm, static version.
  • Mobile, actually tested - on a physical phone (including an iPhone in low power mode), not only in an emulator.
  • WCAG - contrast, keyboard, focus, touch targets.

When an immersive website makes no sense

Honestly: not every company needs one. A shop with hundreds of products, a classifieds portal or an intranet needs clear information architecture first, and immersion gets in the way there. If your customer is looking for a price and a table, I will build you a fast, classic company website. Immersion works when you sell an impression and trust: premium property, a treatment, a dinner, a car, a personal brand.

Questions I hear most often

What is an immersive website?
A website built like a film or a game rather than a document: scroll-video, scrollytelling, real-time 3D in the browser (WebGL/WebGPU), kinetic typography, sound synchronised with the picture and micro-interactions that react to the cursor. The goal is commercial: visitors should feel the level of the brand before they read the first sentence.

Is an immersive website slow?
It does not have to be. Done properly, it passes the same audits as a regular site: Lighthouse 90+, a weight budget, lazy-loaded media, video encoded for streaming, a calm version for people who prefer reduced motion, and tests on physical phones rather than only in an emulator.

When does an immersive website not make sense?
When your customer is looking for a price and a table. A shop with hundreds of products, a classifieds portal or an intranet needs clear information architecture first, and immersion gets in the way. In that case I build a fast, classic company website instead.

How much does an immersive website cost?
Every project is quoted individually, because a single scroll-video hero and a full real-time 3D experience are different amounts of work. Describe your brand and goal in two sentences and you get a free concept and a quote within 24h.

Want a website clients remember?

Describe your brand and goal in two sentences. I will come back with an idea for the experience and a quote, often with a moving preview of the concept before you decide. Every project is quoted individually: free concept and quote within 24h.
